Chainsaw returns guitar to the South Side's Blue Mondays

Chainsaw Dupont will make a stand of Blue Mondays at the famous southside hotspot Lee's Unleaded Blues, a blues lounge with a venerable history dating back over 25 years. He'll be appearing for a string of Monday nights beginning June 16th, and as always, at Lee's there's no cover charge, with a 2-drink minimum. The newly-remodeled lounge is cozy and comfortable, with a newly expanded stage area and reconfigured seating to improve sightlines.

Showtime is at 9PM, at Lee's Unleaded Blues, 7401 S. South Chicago, a stone's throw via the Chicago Skyway from Indiana, but convenient from anywhere on the South side, and a mere 15 minutes from downtown. The "Blue Monday" tradition has long been held on the Southside, but in recent nights, few Monday sets have, as had long been the tradition, a guitar showman. More...

Chainsaw Dupont buzzes Chicago Blues Fest with new blues

Chicago bluesman David "Chainsaw" Dupont, proponent of the new-traditionalist "Delta Crush" school of blues, will be debuting two new songs in addition to showcasing his songs that blues fans all across Chicago are talking about as Chainsaw plays two sets, each featuring a new track - one on the solo/acoustic Juke Joint stage (2pm June 12th), followed by an electric set on the Front Porch stage (6pm June 12th). Dupont has been breaking new ground in the Chicago blues scene, including the release of 2003's "Lake St. Lullaby", the first album of all-original blues material to be released by a Chicago artist in recent memory. Featuring 13 new tracks, this critically-lauded debut album introduces songs that have a classic feel, with a modern edge influenced by rap and hip-hop.

In addition to showcasing this original material, Chainsaw will be previewing two new tracks from his upcoming CD release. The first, "Hoodoo Ya", is an eerie, politically-tinged homage to his mentor, the late Junior Wells, and will be introduced on the Front Porch stage. His acoustic set will feature "17", another socially topical track slated for release on the yet-untitled upcoming second album. Chainsaw will also appear for CD autograph signings at the Best Buy tent at 3 p.m. and 7p.m., immediately following each set.

Chainsaw will also be doing autograph signings after both sets at the Best Buy tent, where the CD will be available for sale during the festival. Several other promotional and showcase appearances for Chainsaw are planned during Blues Festival Week and will be announced as they are confirmed.
