Chainsaw Dupont to host "Blue Mondays" at Kingston Mines

Chicago "Delta Crush" guitarist Chainsaw Dupont will host a series of "Blue Mondays" on the north stage of Chicago blues mainstay Kingston Mines, featuring a variety of originals as well as blues classics. This marks Dupont's first "residency" at the Mines, the oldest blues club on Chicago's north side, although he's been a frequent guest and has appeared in one-night only shows there. The venue has long been a leader on the local blues circuit, and celebrity sightings of Hollywood stars are frequent enough that they can be considered regulars. Monday nights have a deep tradition in Chicago blues, stretching back to the "classic" blues era of the late 1940s and early 1950s, when club owners on the South Side would feature live blues on Mondays to draw people in on an otherwise slow night. Mondays on the north side today include only two live blues shows, and Dupont hopes that that his efforts to re-invigorate the classic blues will find an appreciative audience at "Chicago's Blues Center", as the Mines touts itself.
